New York Philharmonic

The New York Philharmonic, officially the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York, Inc., globally known as New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NYPO) or New York Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra, is a symphony orchestra based in New York City in the United States. It is one of the leading American orchestras popularly referred to as the "Big Five". The Philharmonic's home is David Geffen Hall, formerly known as Avery Fisher Hall until September 2015, located in New York's Lincoln Center.
Organized in 1842, the orchestra is one of America's oldest musical institutions. Its record-setting 14,000th concert was given in December 2004.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=New York Philharmonic: A Distinguished History )
Alan Gilbert is the Philharmonic's current music director, since 2009. Gilbert plans to leave the Philharmonic in 2017, ahead of the major renovation planned for Avery Fisher Hall, now known as David Geffen Hall as of September 2015. Matthew VanBesien is the orchestra's Executive Director.
